Ellyllon

Ellyllon Art

Cows

Geographic Base: Cornwall and Wales, centered around the Dosmary Pool, England

Appearance: The Ellyllon are very thin 4" tall fairies, with angular faces, pointed ears, and translucent butterfly style wings. Very attractive, they often have long hair and dress in jewel toned wispy robes. There are both male and female Ellyllon and both speak in voices as tiny and thin as they are themselves.

Lifestyle: The Ellyllon live in and around the Dosmary Pool in Cornwall (with significant settlements in Wales as well) and are the guardians of the famous water spirit who lives there, the Lady of the Lake of Arthurian lore. Protecting her however tends to be the occupation of only a small elite guard who live under the water (as Ellyllon can breathe water as well as air). The rest of these fairies enjoy the more traditional pursuits of moonlight dance and enchanted blessing of children, particularly blondes. However, while their blessings convey great gifts upon the recipients, these abilities disappear the instant they are mentioned by anyone else. Ellyllon eat toadstools and certain fungi from tree roots and they raise tiny fairy cows for their honey milk. They are a very clean and neat people, much concerned with their appearance. While they can fly, for long distances, Ellyllon prefer riding in enchanted hollowed out eggshells.

Human Interaction: While their duties of protecting the Lady of the Lake encourage them to keep a low profile, the Ellyllon do engage in certain discrete interactions with people. Beyond the blessing of children done above - usually done quietly as the child is sleeping its first night - Ellyllon have also been known to do small favors to help out the poor, especially in times of trial. However if their efforts are not appreciated the Ellyllon will disappear and never return to that house.
