Quantity: 49 (the one broken one shown in the movie will not be distributed) Materials: Drained Eggshell, Ink, Clear Acrylic. Dimensions: 1 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 1 3/4"
Why: The Tengu decorate the surface of their eggs with designs that mimic their own ritual face paintings. These patterns convey protections on their child, as do the calligraphic blessings written on the back of each egg. However, these examples of their art form have of course been done on common chicken eggs (empty shells only) and are merely for show.
Details: These are very delicate pieces and should be stored carefully. While translations have been provided for the inscriptions on the 5 superior examples, the Tengu are very reluctant to explain their script to humans. |
